Organizational Update – Middle East Conflict & Our Response
We're providing transparent updates on regional developments and our commitment to personnel well-being.
Last Updated: March 3, 2026
Given ongoing developments in the Middle East related to escalating conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran, we want to offer a clear and transparent update on the situation and how ELIC is responding. We recognize that many loved ones, supporters, and partners are understandably concerned about our teams serving in the region.
Current Environment
Recent geopolitical developments have increased regional tensions, including military strikes involving Iran and retaliatory activity affecting multiple countries in the Middle East. These events have had real effects on travel patterns, commercial airline routes, and national travel advisories.
Commercial air travel throughout the region has been disrupted, with flight cancellations and temporary airspace closures reported in several neighboring countries.
Official travel advisories, including from the U.S. Department of State, continue to evolve in response to the situation.
Our Teams in the Region
We have staff and long-term teachers serving in the Middle East. Their safety, well-being, and ability to continue their work are our highest priorities.
- Our in-country leaders maintain constant situational awareness and are in close contact with local partners, various security advisors, and relevant authorities.
- We monitor official guidance from the U.S. and other governments, as well as trusted security advisors with regional expertise.
- Our teams have established security protocols and contingency plans designed to respond to changing conditions.
At this time, our long-term personnel remain in place. We have not directed any of our long-term teams to evacuate, and we continue to evaluate the situation daily.
Commitment to Communication & Care
We will continue to provide timely updates on this page as the situation evolves and as we receive new official information from diplomatic and security sources.
Thank you for your continued prayers, support, and trust. Our confidence remains grounded in responsible planning, strong local relationships, and our unwavering commitment to the safety and flourishing of every person connected with our work.
